Hansraj Singh, Purulia: Three monks are said to have been beaten up in Purulia Kashipur while traveling from Uttar Pradesh to Gangasagar. vandalized the vehicle. Nonetheless, after arriving in the state with a complaint alleging widespread abuse of monks in Purulia, Union Minister Anurag Thakur also spoke out about the situation there.
Leaders of the BJP are drawing parallels between this tragedy and the Palghar incident. 2020 saw the public outcry over the lynching killing of a monk in Palghar. Three individuals, three of whom were nuns, were charged with beating to death in Palghar, Maharashtra, due to allegations of child stealing. About a hundred peasants in the Garchinchale village of Palghar were charged with attacking armed monks. Two fatalities occurred.
