The long-lasting and complex relationship between Nepal and India has been emphasized by Nepal's Foreign Minister, Narayan Prakash Saud, who has highlighted people-to-people, political, and historical links as the cornerstones of their bilateral cooperation.

"We have a long history of relations, we have govt-to-govt relations, people-to-people relations," Saud said in an interview with WION on the fringes of the Indian Ocean Conference in Perth. We have solid contacts and have inked numerous trade agreements in our bilateral relationship."

Regarding bilateral visits, Saud announced his impending trip to India in less than a week, pointing out the frequent interactions between officials and ministers from both countries. "Repeated visits from India and Nepal are very common," he said. After this conference, I will also be traveling to India in a week.

Importantly, Saud acknowledged the religious and cultural importance of the Ram Temple and said, "Most of the Nepalis want to visit Ram Temple." There are many Nepalis who like to visit the holy site.

As he turned his attention to more general regional issues, Saud emphasized the significance of the Indian Ocean for Nepal's trade and economic goals while highlighting the necessity of stability and peace.

"Indian Ocean is very important for us because Nepal has its most of the trade from the Indian Ocean so we want a stable, peaceful Indian Ocean," he said, highlighting the conference's agenda item to promote stability in the Indian Ocean. The Indian Ocean will be the focus of this conference, and I think we can successfully maintain the ocean's peace.

Saud also emphasized the enormous economic possibilities and market opportunities that Nepal may take use of from the Indian Ocean, highlighting the region's facilitation of shared civilization and historical linkages.

Declaring, "We have big potential of trade and market in the Indian Ocean," he emphasized the significance of strengthening people-to-people ties, exchange programs, and trade throughout the area. The Indian Ocean connects us to a different civilization. This is the region where one-third of the old commerce is conducted, therefore trade, exchange programs, and people-to-people contacts are vital for Nepal and other nations as well.
