Rahul Dravid says, "We Didn't Get A..." in his admission that India made a major error in their first-test loss to England.

India fell short of England by 28 runs in the opening Test. According to Dravid, they lost by 70 runs in the opening inning, which would have been advantageous for them afterwards.

It is shocking for the home team as India lost the first Test match against England by a margin of 28 runs. In red-ball cricket, the Men in Blue are a dominant force at home. In Hyderabad, they were winning easily against England before Ollie Pope and Tom Hartley led the visitors' charge back. In the five-match series, England defeated India with Pope hitting 196 and Hartley taking seven wickets.

It seemed as though India's head coach Rahul Dravid had lost the plot when none of the three set batters managed to register a substantial three-figure total. Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja eliminated after scoring in the eighties.

"You know, we didn't get a hundred, we didn't have someone obtain a hundred for us. Thus, I thought that in some respects, we in India simply left those seventy or eighty runs behind in the hut during the first innings. There's always going to be difficulty in the second innings. It's just one of those things that is difficult. In the news conference held after the game, Dravid stated, "It's not easy to chase 230 or it's not done very often."

Dravid also supported the young players on the team who have been failing in the Tests on a regular basis for some time. Particularly Shubman Gill has been awful, with just over 100 runs scored in his last ten Test innings. However, Dravid stated that everyone on the team was chosen based on merit, declining to disclose individuals.

Many of the players are quite young, as they play a lot of white-ball cricket and may not have as much opportunity to play first-class cricket as they would want. They are therefore learning, and I believe they are making progress. To be honest, during the past few years, there have also been difficult wickets. Additionally, several of our younger batsmen have found it difficult to adjust. However, they have not arrived here by accident; rather, they have earned their place by excelling in A-team cricket and amassing a large number of runs in domestic cricket. Thus, as you can see, their selection is based on merit "Dravid stated.

Pope received a lot of acclaim from Dravid. The middle-order batsman did a fantastic job batting, scoring 196 in the second innings to set up England's victory. In addition to saying that he has never seen someone sweep and reverse-sweep so effectively in these circumstances against this kind of bowling attack, Dravid expressed the hope that Pope will make one error in the upcoming game.
