Google redesigned its Bard chatbot as Gemini, driven by a new AI model, to compete with Microsoft in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) subscriptions.

The software giant reportedly revealed the introduction of Gemini Advanced, a paid subscription service that will let US users to access improved reasoning capabilities for $19.99 per month, according to a Reuters story.

This membership gives two terabytes of cloud storage, worth $9.99 per month, together with the potent Ultra 1.0 AI model.

As part of the Google One AI Premium plan, subscribers may expect connectivity with Gmail and Google's office suite.

The breadth of Google's subscription was underscored by Product Lead Jack Krawczyk, who said, "When I pay $20 a month, access to a model alone is not really enough."

The subscription offers cloud storage, Gmail integration, and other features in an effort to complement users' workflow.

The action highlights Google's reaction to the changing AI subscription market, as OpenAI and Microsoft have already started to offer rival services like ChatGPT Plus.

Given that both Google and Microsoft charge $20 a month for their memberships in the US, there is increasing rivalry for customers looking for sophisticated AI features.

Gemini Advanced is designed for consumers who want the most advanced generative AI technology available, which can produce material instantly and solve questions that don't have clear internet solutions.

Google hopes to leverage its large customer base of Android phone users to turn Gemini into a product with billions of consumers.

Gemini, the default digital assistant for Android users, can be accessed via an app, the power button, or voice commands like "Hey Google."

With increased language support in Japanese and Korean, the Gemini Advanced rollout is expected to progress from the US to Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and other locations.

This transition, in Krawczyk's words, signifies "the artist formerly known as Bard" joining "the Gemini era."

Gemini Advanced is currently accessible in 150 countries and offers a free two-month trial for users. It is currently available in English.
