New Delhi: Following the formation of a new administration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to provide a comprehensive budget. The 2019 budget will be an interim budget because it is an election year and the Lok Sabha elections are approaching. The administration that emerges victorious in the Lok Sabha Elections will propose the complete budget.

The Interim Budget will be presented in Parliament by FM Nirmala Sitharaman tomorrow, February 1, 2024. Since this year is an election year, the parliamentary custom of presenting the Economic Survey in the Lok Sabha one day ahead of the Budget will also not be observed.

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to address a joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at 11 am on Wednesday to kick off the Budget Session of Parliament. The final session before the Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for April and May of this year, would feature eight sittings spread over ten days.

Thirty minutes after the President's speech, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will begin their respective Houses' work. A copy of the President's speech will be placed on the table of each House by the Secretary Generals of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

A report titled "The Indian Economy - A Review" that provides an overview of the nation's economic trajectory over the past ten years was released by the Ministry of Finance two days ago.

According to the Finance Ministry, the Review is divided into two chapters that provide a quick overview of the economy's prospects for the ensuing years as well as an assessment of the Indian economy's progress during the previous ten years.
