New Delhi: Despite the formation of the INDI alliance, the Congress party is facing increasing hurdles ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Mahagatha Banerjee of West Bengal and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab have declared their intention to run on their own, and Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, has left the 'Mahagathbandhan' in order to create a government with the backing of the BJP.

To compound the Congress's dilemma, Mamata Banerjee expressed doubts that they would be able to win even 40 seats in the next elections. There are concerns over the party's election performance as a result of its internal and external divisions.

Speaking to the media throughout her two-day sit-in protest against West Bengal's failure to pay central dues, Banerjee also made fun of Congressman Rahul Gandhi—without naming him—for his widespread outreach during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the state that was transferred to Jharkhand on Friday.

Banerjee made a clear allusion to Rahul Gandhi's meeting with "bidi" workers in North Bengal when she stated, "Those who lack even rudimentary knowledge of the process of making bidis are now turning to photo shoots." This is the current fashion and trend.

She reaffirmed that the Trinamool Congress is the only party in West Bengal capable of opposing the BJP. She declared, "We will be resisting the BJP alone this time as we have in the past." Additionally, she charged that the Congress had failed to provide an official invitation for her to join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra upon its arrival in West Bengal.

"They visited our state, but they never gave us a heads-up." Abruptly, the rally moved into West Bengal. I suggested that Congress run for 300 seats and give the regional parties the remaining seats. However, it disagreed and exhibited a big-brother mentality, according to Banerjee.
