China said that Russia is deliberately trying to create war. China also says the US is destroying peace in West Asia.

Russia and China argued at a UNSC meeting that the strikes in Syria and Iraq will set off a deadly cycle of warfare that will retaliate against each other.

During a Monday UN Security Council meeting, China and Russia accused the US of using its recent retaliatory strikes on groups in Iraq and Syria that receive support from Iran to inflame the already high tensions in the Middle East.

In retaliation for a drone attack on a facility in Jordan on January 28 that claimed the lives of three US soldiers, the US military launched nocturnal strikes against dozens of sites in Syria and Iraq on Friday and Saturday.

There are now concerns that the present Israel-Hamas battle in Gaza may turn into a regional crisis as a result of the strikes, which were directed against elite Iranian troops and militant groups that support Iran.

The Russian envoy, Vasily Nebenzia, stated that "it's clear that American airstrikes are specifically, deliberately aimed to stoke the conflict." Russia was the one that had requested the emergency meeting.

Furthermore, according to China's ambassador Jun Zhang, "US actions will certainly exacerbate the vicious cycle of tit-for-tat violence in the Middle East."

Across the Middle East, resentment over Israel's destructive assault in Gaza, which started on October 7 in response to an extraordinary Hamas onslaught, has increased, fueling violence by organizations supported by Iran in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

"All parties to step back from the brink and to consider the unbearable human and economic cost of a potential regional conflict," advocated a UN representative.

Undersecretary-general for political and peacebuilding affairs Rosemary DiCarlo stated, "I appeal to the Council to continue to actively engage all concerned parties to prevent further escalation and the worsening of tensions that undermine regional peace and security."

The governments of Iran, which disputes any involvement in the drone strike last month, as well as those of Syria and Iraq have criticized the American strikes.

Iranian ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani told the Council on Monday that it is "misleading, baseless, and unacceptable" to link these activities to Iran or its military forces.

He promised that Iran would "not hesitate to exercise its inherent rights... to respond firmly" in the event of "any threat, attack, or aggression affecting its security."

There will be more retaliation, the White House announced on Sunday.

Deputy ambassador Robert Wood stated, "To be clear, the United States does not desire more conflict in a region when we are actively working to contain and deescalate the conflict in Gaza."

"We are not looking to engage in direct combat with Iran, but we will not stop protecting our personnel from despicable attacks," he continued. Exactly.
